In preparation for Euro 2020, England will be playing a friendly against Italy at Wembley in March. The meeting will be on Friday 27th March and will mark the first of four friendlies for The Lions ahead of the Euros.
Despite Italy ranking 13th in the world, nine places below England, they finished their qualification campaign for the European Championships with a 100% record making the first of these friendlies a potential tasty look into how they will perform in the Euros and whether England can handle the pressure of a team looking to be on the up. It will be the 28th meeting between England and four-time World Cup winners Italy, with the most recent a 1-1 draw at Wembley in 2018, where current top Premier League goalscorer, Jamie Vardy, netted for the Lions.
England will also play Denmark at Wembley on 31st March, Austria in Vienna on 2nd June and Romania at home on 7th June.
The fixture will be the first of four tests to help the Three Lions prepare for next summer’s UEFA EURO 2020. The occasion will also be designated as ‘The Heads Up International’ in support of The FA’s charitable partnership with HRH The Duke of Cambridge’s Heads Together mental health initiative.”Wembley statement
