Former Juventus manager, Max Allegri, has turned down the chance to return to former Serie A clubs Juventus and AC Milan with a rumoured deal in place with a great English club.
Current Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri is feeling the pressure in Turin and it’s possible that the club would like Allegri to return. Reports have also surfaced that AC Milan would be interested in a return for their former tactician.
So who is the “great English club?”
It’s pretty safe to rule out North London clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham, who have already gone through recent changes in personal in the form of Mikel Arteta and Jose Mourinho, respectively.
Allegri has been linked with the Blues in the past but Frank Lampard has been enjoying a great season at Chelsea, so getting rid of the club legend is a huge doubt. Liverpool have Klopp who has just receive his 5th manger of the month award this season making him the first manager to win the award five times in a season. Out of the 2 Manchester teams, Man United look to be the only one that could realistically appoint a new manager, following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s less than ideal season following being appointed as permanent manager. Could his days be numbered?
- Won the Serie A title in all of his five seasons in charge at Juventus.
- Led Juventus to two Champions League finals.
Allegri’s track record, is far superior to Solskjaer’s so the Red Devils would certainly be getting an upgrade. To be honest, he’d be a fine appointment for any top English club, which is why his hat was in the ring for some of the big jobs that became available this season.
